Section outline

    • Solar Panel (PV Module): The "generator." Composed of photovoltaic cells (usually
silicon) that convert sunlight (photons) directly into Direct Current (DC) electricity via the photovoltaic effect.
    • Charge Controller (Solar Regulator): The "brain" for battery-based systems.
      • Function: Regulates the voltage and current coming from the panels to the
batteries, preventing overcharging and deep discharge.
      • Types:
        • PWM (Pulse Width Modulation): Cheaper, less efficient. Acts like a
          simple switch.
        • MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking): More expensive, highly
efficient (up to 30% more power). It's a smart DC-to-DC converter that
matches the panel's voltage to the battery's voltage for optimal charging. MPPT is the professional standard.
    • Battery (Energy Storage): The "storage tank." Stores DC energy from the panels for use
at night or during cloudy weather.
